<p>Captain La Duca graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering and was commissioned an Ensign in the Civil Engineer Corps.  In 1997 she received a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.  In 2014 she earned her Doctorate in Industrial and Systems Engineering with a dissertation focus on Role Conflict and Employee Retention of Federal Engineers.

Captain La Duca’s early assignments included Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington; Planning Officer at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland; Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE where she served as Charlie Company Commander and the S7 Training Officer; Assistant Public Works Officer for Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni, Japan; and Southwest Regional staff as the Operations Officer for the Assistant Chief of Staff for Facilities in San Diego, California where in 2002 she was selected as the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Military Engineer of the Year.

The second half of her career included serving as the Seabee Enlisted Community Manager in Arlington, Virginia; Resident Officer in Charge of Construction Charleston, South Carolina where she was selected to serve a six month Individual Augment assignment with the Office of Security Cooperation, Afghanistan, Kabul Afghanistan; Commander, Navy Installations Command/N46 staff as an Action Officer; NAVFAC Washington as the Blue IPT Lead/AOPS and then Operations Officer; and Director of Total Force at NAVFAC Headquarters where she was responsible for military and civilian personnel policy and management for NAVFAC.

She assumed command of Naval Facilities Engineering Command Far East and duty as Regional Engineer for Commander, Navy Region Japan; Commander, Navy Region Korea and Commander, Singapore Area Coordinator in July 2013.

Captain La Duca is a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a Certified Energy Manager.  She is also a member of the Navy Acquisition Professional Community and a member of the Society of American Military Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, Association of Energy Engineers and American Society of Engineering Managers.  Her personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal.
